Healthy Vietnamese Spring Rolls
How to make a healthy delicious vietnamese spring roll.
Are you looking for a different and healthy dish for your family. Vietnamese spring rolls are the way to go. Low in fat and very refreshing to have at the dinner table. Best of all it’s a very simple dish to make and cost next to nothing.
First of all you need all the ingredients for the dish you can find it at your local asian food market.. You will need a pack of rice papers, rice vermicelli, pork butt with no fat, lettuce, mint leaves, bean sprouts, and shrimp to fill your spring rolls, and buy a already seasoned fish sauce to dip your spring rolls in.
First you would boil the rice vermicelli for about 20 minutes then take it out and leave it in a strainer, then you would have to boil the pork butt and for about 30 minutes then with the shrimp for about 5 minutes until done.
With the pork butt you will have to slice it into thin pieces about an inch long by and inch wide, the shrimp you would have to devein the shrimp and cut it into halves. the lettuce, mint leaves, and bean sprouts give them a quick cleansing and let them dry for a couple of minutes.
Once everything is in order, you should have a large bowl filled with hot or lukewarm water to run the rice papers through, you just got to run them through for about a couple of seconds and leave them on a flat plate once they are starting to dry put in about a handful of vermicelli into the center of the rice papers, add the pork, shrimp, lettuce, bean sprouts, and mint leaves on top of the vermicelli. Repeat steps until you have all you need. Soak one rice paper at a time for best results.
Then you take the bottom of the rice paper and fold it towards the middle covering the ingredients, the next step is to take the right or the left whichever you prefer and fold it inwards repeat that step on the opposite side once you got that done just roll the rest up kind of like rolling a burrito in a sense but healthier than a burrito. Once that is done fill a little bowl with some pre-made fish sauce for spring rolls, You can impress your family and friends with a healthy but delicious meal, and trust me they’ll thank you for it.
