Best Ever Smoked Turkey

published by mknesek on Oct 26, 2009

My hubby’s recipe for the turkeys he’s smoked–everyone asks him how he does it as they are so good.

  Smoked Turkey

Any size ( we usually get big ones though) frozen turkey, thawed

Lemon Pepper

Thick Slab bacon

Thick rounded toothpicks as they are more durable

Charcoal

My hubby takes the thawed turkey & puts lemon pepper all over it.

Then he takes the thick slab bacon  & puts it the pieces all over the turkey securing each piece with the toothpicks.

Around 10 PM he puts the turkey on the charcoal smoker. He fills the charcoal pan with charcoal

and the water pan with water.

It cooks all night–should be done in the morning when you get up.

Occasionaly when the weather is really cold or if it has rained during the night,

the turkey will need to cook a little longer. The turkey will be very moist inside and

very flavorful. Everyone who has eaten his smoked turkey raves about it.
