Ham and Cheese Filled French Toast Sandwiches
I started making these sandwiches years ago during a camping trip. They are nutritious, easy and have become a family favorite.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of crusty bread
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp finely chopped fresh Basil
- 1/4 tsp finely chopped fresh Oregano
- 1/4 tsp finely chopped fresh Parsley
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup milk
- 250g Cream cheese
- 4 slices Ham
- 2 tsp butter or margarine
Method
- In a bowl whisk together eggs, milk, herbs and salt and pepper
- Spread all 8 bread slices with cream cheese
- Place ham slice on 4 bread slices and cover sandwich style with remaining 4 slices
- Dip sandwiches into egg mixture, making sure that sides are coated as well
- Cook in melted butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side
* For crispier sandwiches, cook in a 400 degree oven on a butter-greased pan for 4-5 minutes each side.

I can make these without the ham. I love toasted sandwiches.
