Hungery Man Football Sandwich

This big hearty sandwich will feed and satisfy three or four hungry people.
This is a sandwich that is perfect for footballs Sunday and of course the Super Bowl. It will feed 3 people easily and possibly a 4th depending on how large you cut the sections. You may have extra filling left over so you can always get two loaves of french bread instead of one, or some hamburger buns.
Hungry Man Football Sandwich
1 Loaf of French or Italian Bread
1 pound spicy ground sausage
1 pound ground beef
1 medium sized onion, chopped
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 Tablespoon. Italian seasoning
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pepper
2 Tablespoons butter or margarine
1 clove of garlic crushed and chopped fine.
Cook sausage, beef and onion in a skillet until meat is browned.
In the mean time Hollow out the center of the bread loaf with a long serrated bread knife. Turning the loaf into a thick shell.
Note: you can put the hollowed out bread crumbs into a food processor to make them smaller, add in a some a pinch of garlic powder and some Italian seasoning and turn it into seasoned bread crumbs for a later use.
When meat is browned, drain its,
Stir the cheese, egg, mustard, seasoning, and salt and peppe tagether in a bowl, then combine this mixture with the meat and spoon the mixture into the bread shell.
Melt butter in a small saucepan and add the garlic to it. Let them cook together for about a minute. Make sure it does not burn.
Brush the butter mixture over the loaf. Wrap in aluminum foil, Leaving a small opening in the top. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Cut into 3 or 4 slices.
Serve Hot.
