Low fat low calorie sandwich recipe
An excellent, healthy, tasty low fat sandwich which will wow your tastebuds!
I am bored with the regular sandwich fillings on offer at the deli or supermarket.
They are packed with processed rubbish and hidden fats. Often they are overpriced, under filled and lack the taste I want for my lunch time treat.
I take my own sandwiches to work these days – it takes a little bit more planning but I have become quite creative and am now a lot more satisfied with my lunch time offering!
Here is one of my latest sandwich designs. I absolutely love it and I hope that you will too!
Tunastic Fantastic Filling
- Small Can of Tuna in Brine (Drained and Flaked)
- Squeeze of lemon juice
- Ground Black Pepper
- Grated Carrot
- Coriander Leaves
- Cumin Seeds (Slightly Ground)
- Sliced Yellow Pepper (Capsicum)
Use good quality wholemeal bread for that yummy and wholesome earthy taste – I like breads that are seeded.
Bind the tuna together with a squeeze of lemon juice and add some black pepper to taste.
Layer the tuna, carrot, coriander leaves and sliced pepper on the bottom slice of bread– pack in as much as you like!
Slightly crush the cumin seeds and sprinkle them over to taste.
Add the top slice of bread and cut the sandwich in half.
This is a crazily low fat sandwich and so tasty – you can have it with or without butter but obviously if you do add a spread, it won’t be as healthy! This sandwich lasts well in the fridge if you make it the night before and the flavours blend even better if you leave it overnight.
