Recipe for Avocado Ham Lettuce and Mixed Sprout Sandwich

published by Dee Huff on Nov 23, 2007

This sandwich is made with wholemeal bread, and uses fresh ingredients. The mixed sprouts are home-grown from a packet of seeds for sprouting labeled “Sandwich Mix”. I don’t know what seeds are included in the mix, since it doesn’t list them on the packet.

Ingredients

  • Two slices of wholemeal bread
  • 1 small ripe avocado
  • Four slices of wafer thin roast ham
  • Some lettuce leaves
  • Mixed Sprouts
  • Method

    1. Cut the avocado in half and take out the stone. Scoop all the flesh into a small bowl and mash with a fork, and spread on both slices of bread.
    2. On one of the bread slices, place the ham, sprouts and lettuce leaves, and the turn the second slice of bread over on top of it all, making a sandwich.

Cut the sandwich in half and eat!

Thanks Anne and Icy. What I hadn’t thought about when putting this together is that not everyone grows their own sprouts, so I’d like to mention that often you can find different varieties of ready to eat sprouts for sale in health food stores or even supermarkets.

This looks like it will taste very good. I realy like whole foods, and yes you can find sprouts in some grocery stores. I get them at Kroger.

I’ve started a new blog with sandwich ideas. It can be found at http://sandwichideas.blogspot.com/ and I’ve even put a link in there to this recipe.
