A Man’s Recipe (Hookup Burrito)

published by Mnofdichotomy on May 26, 2009

Cooking for men – no frills here.

I am, in many ways, a stereotypical man.  I don’t stop to ask for directions when I’m lost, and I don’t follow directions when I’m cooking.  So here, for my fellow men, is the perfect recipe.  Simple, easy, and cheap.  Good for football games, poker night, or just a snack.  And the beauty of it is, any slob can make it.

Ingredients

  • 4 packages of Ramen Noodles (chili flavor)
  • 2 cans of Hormel Chili
  • 1- 4oz.  container of nacho cheese (brand doesn’t matter; hotter=better)
  • 1- 6oz. stick garlic summer sausage
  • 1- bag flamin’ hot cheetos
  • 1- small jar jalapeno peppers
  • 1- package flour burrito shells

Method

  1. Boil a big pot of water
  2. Grate up your summer sausage.  A cheese shredder can be used, but i  prefer the lazy method… stick it in a food processor.  Add it, in a big ol’ mixing bowl, to the nacho cheese, chili, and the juice from the jalapenos.  Mix it up, and microwave for 90 seconds.
  3. Take one cup of flamin’ hot cheetos, and mash ‘em all to hell.  down to powder.   mix it with the chili and stuff.
  4. Your water should be boiling by now.  Remove seasoning packs from noodles,  break them up, and put the noodles in.  Once they’re soft, drain all but a few tablespoons of water.  Mix in seasoning packets, stir it up.
  5. Mix it all up.  Microwave 90 more seconds, heap on to burrito shells, wrap it up, open a beer, and eat the damn thing.

Couple of notes in closing….

  • The beauty of this is that it’s meant to be improvised with.  We have added everything from ground beef to Spanish rice to onions.  The experimenting is what makes it… the recipe is just a foundation.
  • Disclaimer: If you have a weak stomach, or this seems like its a bit too hot for your tastes, don’t eat it.  Be a wuss, find a Betty Crocker cookbook, and make something with broccoli or cream of something soup.
  • If you feel the need to ask about nutritional value or calories, don’t.  It has none and lots, respectively.  Then proceed to previous disclaimer.
