Delicious Bakery Food for Children

Vegetable and Bread pudding

Ingredients

  • 10 slices brown bread
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 finely chopped medium sized onion
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons refined floor
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • ¼ cup green peas, blanched
  • 2 medium carrots, 1cm dices, blanched
  • 1 large potato, 1 cm dices, boiled
  • 6 French beans, ½ inch pieces blanched
  • ¼ small broccoli, florets
  • 4 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons red chilli sauce
  • 4 butter cubes
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch of grated nutmeg

Method

Preheat oven to 200 C.

  1. Cut the brown bread slices into one-inch pieces and put them in a baking dish
  2. Heat oil and three tablespoons of butter in a pan
  3. Add cloves, chopped onion and sauté
  4. Add refined flour and stir
  5. Add milk gradually, stirring continuously to avoid lumps
  6. Boil till it thickens and remove the cloves
  7. Add the grated nutmeg, salt and half the grated cheese and mix well
  8. Add all the vegetables to the baking dish
  9. Pour the ketchup and chilli sauce over it
  10. Cover with remaining grated cheese;
  11. Keep butter cubes on the top and place the tray in the oven and bake at 200 C for 15 minutes
  12. Serve hot

Hot dog Roll

Ingredients

  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 2 chicken sausages
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 medium sized onions, cut into rings
  • 1 bunch lettuce, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons English mustard paste
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, sliced

Method

  1. Heat a grill pan
  2. Slit the rolls and roast them lightly
  3. Keep them aside
  4. Add oil to the pan and grill the sausages till lightly browned
  5. Drain and place them on a plate
  6. Place some lettuce on the bottom part of the roll
  7. Place two sausages over the lettuce
  8. Arrange some onion rings over them followed by jalapeno slices
  9. Dribble some tomato ketchup and mustard paste
  10. Cover the second half of the roll and secure with two toothpicks at wither end
  11. Serve hot

    The vegetable bread pudding sounds really good. We cook bread pudding with dried fruit and brown sugar but I will try this.
