Dick’s Greek Feast Snack Attack

published by AndAnotherThing on Sep 24, 2008

Dick knows how to cater for six – 10 people. It starts with a trip to the best supermarket in your area and all the preparation will take less than ten minutes – there’s no cooking. Just reading this will have your gobs watering!

Sometimes only Greek will do.  A selection of Greek snacks that contrast nicely and should be enjoyed by a group of good friends.  Buy most of the snacks from good supermarkets – just arrange them on large plates.

Ingredients

  • Black Olives – a selection if possible
  • Green Olives – a selection if possible
  • Vine Tomatoes
  • Feta Cheese
  • Houmous (a chick pea dip)
  • Tzatziki (a yoghurt, cucumber and mint dip)
  • Bread (crusty)
  • Celery
  • Stuffed Vine Leaves
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Fresh mint

Method

Cut the Feta cheese into cubes – put on a plate and drizzle with olive oil.  Slice the tomatoes and arrange on another plate, also drizzle with olive oil.  Put green and black olives (you can buy them stuffed with onions, pimentos, almonds and garlic and a few of these to garnish the bowls of black and greens looks attractive – not to mention their contrasting flavours) into bowls.  Also put the houmous and tzatziki into bowls.  Dick decorates his houmous with slices black olives and his tzatsiki with chopped mint.  Cut the celery into sticks (to be had with the aforementioned dips).  Put vine leaves on a plate.  Have the crusty bread warming in an oven (or better still finishing baking in that or your bread maker) so the smell wafts to the nose of your guests as they arrive.
