Perfect Cheese on Toast
How to make the best tasting cheese on toast.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of freshly cut bread. (The fresher the better).
- 4 slices of cheese to cover the bread (thickness is optional) Cathedral cheese is recommended.
- 2 cherry tomatoes, chopped.
- I mushroom, chopped.
- Half of one small onion. Chopped.
- Half of one clove of garlic. Grated.
- A splash of Soya or Worcestershire sauce.
- A sprinkle of salt and pepper.
Method
- Turn the grill on to medium heat. This stops the cheese and edges of the bread burning. It also allows the toppings to cook evenly. Cook the first side of he bread until golden.
- Turn the bread over and place cheese on first. Now add all your toppings except the sauce. Place the loaded bread back under the grill and watch the splendid cheese bubble, spit, and absorb the flavours as it cooks to perfection. This shouldn’t take longer than five minutes.
- Now add a dash of your sauce and stick back under the heat for a further thirty seconds. Take out and enjoy with a warm cup of tea or coffee.
Also good with a crisp sparkling wine.
