Small Idly Bean Dumpling

A quick snack of Idly with carrots and cabbage.

Ingredients:

 

  • Suji                              2 cups, (Semolina/Rawa)
  • Curd                            3 cups.
  • Salt                              ½ Tsp.
  • Eno fruit salt                 1 Tsp.
  • Carrots                         3 to 4, grated.
  • Cabbage                      1/2 , finely sliced, length wise.
  • Curry leaves                 1 Tsp,chopped (Kadi patta)
  • Mustard Seeds             1 Tsp, (Rai / sarson)
  • Salt & pepper               to taste.

 

Method:

 

  1. Make batter of suji and curd and keep this for ½ an hour.
  2. Now to make the idly put some water in the pressure cooker to boil, meanwhile oil the mould of the idly. (Preferably small idly mould).
  3. After ½ hour take the batter and add eno fruit salt, salt and mix it well.
  4. Pour the apt amount of batter in each mould depending on the size of the mould.
  5. Keep it in the cooker and cover with lid properly without the whistle.
  6. Let it cook for 10 minutes, once done take out the mould and keep it to cool.
  7. Meanwhile, in a pan, put some oil, mustard seeds.
  8. When the crack put curry leaves and grated carrots and cabbage.
  9. Sauté for some time and then add salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Once done then add the idly’s in it.
  11. Serve hot with coconut chutney or Mint (Pudina) chutney.
