Soft Pretzel

You can’t lose with soft pretzels. They are healthy, yummy and fun to make.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp. yeast
- 1 ½ tsp. dark brown sugar
- 2 tsp. honey
- 4 c. bread flour
- 1 ½ c. warm water
- 2 tsp. table salt
- 3 tsp. baking soda
- 1 egg
- Pretzel salt
Method
- Put water on to boil and add baking soda.
- Mix yeast, sugar, honey, and water. Let stand 5 minutes.
- Turn heat under water down a little so it doesn’t bubble.
- Scramble the egg and set bowl aside.
- Add flour and table salt into mixture of yeast/water, and knead. Sprinkling extra flour on surface will keep dough from sticking.
- Make pretzel designs with dough. For softer, chewier pretzel, make it as thick as your Dad’s finger.
- Put pretzel in water and cook for 25-30 seconds on each side.
- Coat with egg, sprinkle on pretzel salt, and bake at 375ĚŠ for 15-20 minutes, or until it looks just how you like it.
