Spicy Nuts

Tasty spicy nuts are great for snacking.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups mixed nuts
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter
  • 4 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ancho chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • salt

Method

Preheat oven to 350 F.  Spread the nuts on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 7 minutes.  Meanwhile, mix the other ingredients, except the salt, in a large bowl.  Remove the toasted nuts from the oven and toss them in the mixture so that all nuts are coated.  Spread the nuts back on the baking sheet.  Salt as much as you want.  Bake for 5 minutes, stir, then bake 5 more minutes.

The nuts will be gooey when they come out of the oven.  As they cool, they will harden into clumps.  To break the clumps, place them in a ziploc bag and smack them with a wooden spoon.
