The dough can be kept for up to three days in a covered bowl in the refrigerator.

1 pkg. dry yeast

1/4 c. warm water

2 1/2 c. flour

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

1/8 c. sugar

1/2 c. shortening

1 c. buttermilk

Dissolve yeast in warm water & set aside.  Mix dry ingredients in order given, cutting in shortening as you normally do for biscuits or pie dough.  Stir in buttermilk & yeast mixture, & mix thoroughly.  Dough is ready to refrigerate.

When it’s time to make them, turn dough out on floured board & knead lightly.  Roll out & cut w/ biscuit cutter, placing in greased pan.

Let dough rise a bit before baking in 400 deg. F. oven for about 12-15 min.  ENJOY!
