Applesauce Raisin Bread Pudding

5 cups soft white bread crumbs

1 cup applesauce

3 eggs

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cup raisins

3 cups scalded milk

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter or oleo

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Combine crumbs and milk in a bowl. Mix until crumbs are thoroughly soaked. Add remaining ingredients in this order: applesauce, sugar, eggs, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, vanilla. Mix well. Spoon into a greased 2 quart baking dish. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
