Automatic Doughnuts

·       ½ cup sugar

·       1/3 tsp. salt

·       1 tsp. baking powder (heaping)

·       1 egg, separated

·       1½ cup sifted flour

·       ½ cup milk

·       ½ tsp. nutmeg

Beat egg yolks, add milk then add sifted dry ingredients.  Mix well.  Stiffly beat egg whites and add to mix.  Drop by teaspoon into hot oil.  They will turn automatically.  Sprinkle with powdered sugar and roll in sugar with nutmeg added.  Kids love this recipe.
