 A commercial breadmaker

Note: vary the types of chocolate used to make Breadmaker Chocolate Bread different each time.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 c water or lowfat milk
  • 3 c unbleached bread flour (or plain/AP flour plus 1 tbs gluten)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbs unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp rapid rise yeast
  • 5 oz chocolate such as milk, nut, semisweet etc, chopped

Method

  1. Add the ingredients, except for the chocolate, to the breadmaker pan in the order given, or follow manufacturer’s recommendations.
  2. Set the breadmaker to normal setting, medium crust with ‘fruit and nut’ option if available. Start the machine. Add the chocolate gradually when the machine beeps. Make certain it mixes in thoroughly. If there is no ‘fruit/nut’ option add the chopped chocolate during the second kneading.
  3. Remove the bread after baking is complete and let cool on a rack.

Breadmaker Chocolate Bread makes great toast! Use it to make Bread Pudding too.
