Buttery TEA Biscuits: That Melt in Your Mouth

published by A Bromley on Feb 14, 2012

Tea biscuits are a wonderful breakfast food, snack or bread to serve with a late morning brunch. The following recipe is one of my favorites. I usually add fruit but you don’t have to. They are just as wonderful without. Here is how to make them…

BUTTERY TEA BISCUITS: That melt in your mouth

Preheat oven 425 degrees

In a large mixing bowl combine and cream together until smooth and well blended

1/4 c. butter, softened (Use real butter)

1– 3oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup sour cream

1/2 cup milk

2 1/2 Tbsp. granulated sugar

2 Tbsp. orange juice and the zest of 1orange

Sift together and add to butter mixture…mixing in a little at a time

2 1/2 cups flour

2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

Fold in 2/3 cup seedless raisins or cranraisins (optional)

Turn dough out on a lightly floured board and pat down evenly

to about 1/2 inch thick.  Cut biscuits with biscuit cutter and place

on baking sheet.  Bake 12 to 17 minutes or until tops are golden brown and biscuits are done in the middle.  Do not over bake.  Remove from oven and serve warm or cold with butter or preserves.

These sound great! The cream cheese would make them very moist. I have also switched to real butter. I think it makes baked goods much better. It is a real food, that our bodies recognize. Margarine is a chemical made in a laboratory.
