Garlicky Quick Bread
This bread is delicious and quick. You can make it for dinner without any rising or punching down or any of that time consuming stuff. Just mix it all up and put it in a cake pan and give it 30 to 35 minutes to cook. You can make the rest of your dinner while it’s in the oven. This bread is great with vegetables summer or winter. If you have never made bread this is a good one to try first.

Garlicky Quick Bread
1 cup whole wheat bread flour
1 cup white flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cloves garlic minced
1/3 cup grated cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 beaten egg
3/4 cup buttermilk
Prehear oven to 375 F
Method
Sift together flours, baking powder, and salt into large bowl. Add garlic and cheese and mix well.
In a medium bowl, whisk together butter, egg, and buttermilk.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix, using a large spatula. When dough becomes too stiff, use your hands and continue mixing, forming dough into a ball.
Oil an 8 1/2 inch round cake pan.
Press dough into pan and use a sharp knife to make eight wedge shaped cuts about 1/4 inch deep.
Bake until light brown, about 35 minutes. Let cool on rack, then serve wedges.
One way to serve this bread is to slice each wedge horizontally, then spread the crumbly side with butter and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Broil until golden.
