Greek Cloud Cookies

These are a great cookie. It has a lot of butter, but is so delicious that unless your cholesterol is super super high you will want to make and ea these all in one sitting. Also do not eat if you are or are a recovering alcohol because there is some brandy in them and no giving to kids. This is for us adults to enjoy!

2 cups (1 pound) butter at room temperature

3/4 cup powdered sugar

1 large egg yolk

2 Tablespoons of brandy

4 1/2 cups all=-purpose flour

about 60 whole cloves

Powdered sugar for rolling

In a large bowl, cream the butter and powdered sugar. Beat in egg yolk, beat in brandy. Gradually blend in flour. Cover and chill for hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F . Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.

Pinch off 1 1/2 inch pieces of dough and roll into balls. Place 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheets and press a clove into the top of each ball.

Bake for 12-15 until lightly colored. Remove the clove, roll the balls in powdered sugar, and transfer to wire racks to cool.

My sister makes these for the holidays. I didn’t know what they were called but I know they are delicious and you can’t eat just one. Well maybe you can but I can’t. Nice share. The baking removes the actual alcohol content and only leaves the flavor. Even vanilla and other flavor extracts contain alcohol. These are so really good.
