published by pattiann on Sep 16, 2012

This would be delicious for a Christmas meal.

2 quart black raspberries

1/2 cup sugar

2 Tablespoons flour

1 Tablespoon of lemon juice

1 cup sifted all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 cup shortening

about 1/2 cup milk

Wash and drain fruit. Combine sugar and 2 Tablespoons flour and mix with berries. Add lemon juice and put in buttered deep pie dish. Sift flour , measure and resif with salt and baking powder, Cut in shortening ,using a pastry blender, then gradually stir in milk until dough clings tlings together. Pat or roll out dough 1/4 inch thick and place it on top of food mixture. Trim edges and cut several gashes in center for steam to escape. Bake in hot oven (450F) 20 minutesthen reduce heat to slow 300F and continue baking until cooked through
