Homemade Bread

If you miss those little special moments where your family used to get together and cook, this is a must have bread recipe that will give you that special flavour back home.

The thing the I always miss more about leaving abroad is that silly moments that I use to have back home where my granny, aunt and mommy where taking some time during the weekend to produce that fine and tasteful bread, that lovely smell coming from the oven and the butter melting as soon as you remove it from the oven and spread it all over. That is something that everybody should never forget and try to replicate with friends (if your family is abroad as is mine).
Now I will give you the secret of my family, but don’t worry, it is very simple and quick and with a little guide line and as much love as you can I am sure you will achieve a good result.

Ingredients

100gr fresh yeast (for dry yeast, follow the brand exchange rate)
150ml sunflower oil
100gr sugar
2 whole eggs
1 tea spoon salt
700ml warm milk
Plain flour: around 1.5kg

Directions

Blend all the ingredients together less the flour. You can use a blender, mixer or your hands. Once it is very well mixed, start to add flour until get a dough consistense; set aside in a bowl and cover it with a towel. During very cold days try to keep it in a warm place as it will help the fermentation process.

It should take around one hour or until the dough double its volume. After that just roll the bread. It should get you around 4 to 5 big loaves or a few small ones. Once your bread is rolled it needs to rest for around 30 minutes before you bake it.

It should take around 15 to 30 minutes in a pre heated oven at 180C. It will depend on the loaf size and the oven quality. To give it a nice golden brown colour, brush the top of the bread with egg yolk before baking.

Hope you enjoy this bread as much as I do.
