Homemade Cornbread

Delicious crumbled into a cereal bowl and eaten with milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 stick margarine

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. 
  2. Melt the margarine in a 8×8-inch baking dish. 
  3. Mix together the cornmeal, flour, egg and milk. 
  4. Add the melted margarine to the mixture and pour into the baking dish. 
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

    The title alone got my mouth watering. When my family gets together, there will be at least 3 different cornbreads. There is Mama Marts, Grannies and my mom’s. 3 different recipees and all three get eaten up.
