May’s Date Loaf

A great tasting secret family recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of dates
  • 70 grams of butter
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • 1 ¾ cups of SR flour
  • ½ cup of brown sugar (firmly packed)

Method

  1. Melt butter and combine with boiling water
  2. Pour over dates and leave for 5 minutes
  3. Sift flour with bi-carb soda
  4. Mix with brown sugar
  5. Mix wet ingredients gently into flour
  6. Put into reasonably sized tin and put in oven for 30-35 minutes on 180o (fan forced)
