May’s Date Loaf
A great tasting secret family recipe.
Ingredients:
- 250 grams of dates
- 70 grams of butter
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 ¾ cups of SR flour
- ½ cup of brown sugar (firmly packed)
Method
- Melt butter and combine with boiling water
- Pour over dates and leave for 5 minutes
- Sift flour with bi-carb soda
- Mix with brown sugar
- Mix wet ingredients gently into flour
- Put into reasonably sized tin and put in oven for 30-35 minutes on 180o (fan forced)
