Oatmeal Batter Bread

1 package active dry yeast

1 1/4 cup warm water

1 tablespoon sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons soft shortening

2 1/2 cups sifted flour

1 cup oatmeal (qucik or old fashioned)

1/2 cup seedless raisin

Dissolve yeast in water in large mixing bowl. Add sugar, salt and shortening; stir, add 1 cup flour and oats. Beat 2 minutes with electric mixer at medium speed. Stir in remaining flour and raisins. Cover and let rise in warm place till double in size. Then stir hard 1/2 minute. Spread batter in greased loaf pan 9×5x3-inch. Cover, let rise till batter is 1inch from top of pan. Bake in moderate oven (375*) for 45 minutes. Remove. Brush with shortening.
