A recipe for puto.

Puto is a traditional Filipino food. I’ve never cooked this but you might love to try this because it tastes good. I got this recipe from our home economics subject way back in high school.

Ingredients:

3 cups ground rice

3 tbsp. baking powder

1 cup coconut milk or water

1/2 tsp. anise

1/2 cup refined sugar

Procedure:

1.Soak the rice in water for 5 minutes.

2.Mix the ground rice with baking powder.

3.Prepare the steamer.

4.Put the mixture into the molders. Fill molders until 3/4 full.

5.Steam for 15 to 20 minutes.

Makes 20 to 25 servings. Top with cheese if desired.

When do you put the anise, sugar and coconut water/milk? This recipe is sorely lacking.

Nice one, should try it, but you have not mentioned when to add aniseed, sugar and coconut milk.

I’m glad you said you can use water instead of coconut milk as I can’t stand coconut milk. Sounds like a good recipe although I need to go and find out what a “steamer” is. I’m assuming it’s not what we call a pressure cooker? (ie a pan that cooks things with high pressure steam)
