Raisin Brownies

published by Heather Dawn on Oct 12, 2010

A great twist on traditional brownies, these nut free snacks are perfect for kids parties, potlucks and bake sales.

The best brownies are made from scratch. These quick and easy brownies use raisins to add a sweet and chewy delight to a old fashioned treat.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour a 10 x 13 inch pan, or line with parchment paper.

You will need:

1 cup of butter

2 cups of white sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons of vanilla

2/3 cup of cocoa

1 cup of flour

½ teaspoon of salt

½ teaspoon of baking powder

½ cup of raisins

Start by melting butter in a medium saucepan. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the white sugar, eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining dry ingredients, cocoa, flour, salt and baking powder. Combine wet and dry ingredients by hand, just until blended being careful not to over-mix. Fold in raisins and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes.

These brownies are chewy and moist, and are a great nut-free snack to send in a lunchbox.
