How to Make Pancakes

This is the Pancake recipe I use all of the time, it’s pretty fool proof.

Ingredients

  • 110g/4oz plain flour, sifted
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 200ml/7fl oz milk mixed with 75ml/3fl oz water
  • 50g/2oz butter

You will also need something to garnish the pancakes with; this can be anything such as Jam, Lemon and sugar, Ice cream etc. It is entirely up to you. They can also be used as a savoury meal to accompany a beef stew which is rather nice.

Method

  1. Pass the salt and flour through a sieve.
  2. Make a well in the centre of the mixture and add the eggs.
  3. Mix until smooth without lumps. (Don’t worry too much if you have the odd few)
  4. Add the milk slowly, mixing as you go along.
  5. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  6. Add two tablespoons of the melted butter to the pancake batter and mix in.
  7. Place the rest of the butter in a bowl and use it to lubricate the pan before cooking.
  8. Make sure the pan is boiling hot when you begin but turn it down to a medium heat as you cook them.
  9. Pour some of the mixture into the pan and swirl the pan until it is coated evenly.
  10. Use a pallet knife to flip the pancake.
  11. When both sides are golden you’re finished, now to garnish as you see fit!

Very concise recipe, I’ll have to try it. Garnish as I see fit = with chocolate.

I’ll have to try these. The last pancakes I tried to make on my own were…well let’s just say inedible would have been putting it lightly.
