Pancake Guide
A guide to pancake basics for nutrition and taste.
Here I will just talk about a lot of different things that you can do with pancakes. Let’s start off with adding things to the batter. I will list some possible things, and write a little about each one:
- Chocolate Chips: They will add a chocolaty taste to the pancake. Don’t put a ton of them in, or it will be gross. They also will take away from the nutrition slightly
- Cinnamon: This will go well with apples or raisins. Again it can be overdosed, but it won’t take much away from the nutrition
- Blueberries: These are good, but make it hard to make smaller pancakes. They will add to the nutritional value
- Strawberries: These are also good, but still make it hard to make the pancakes small. They are also healthy.
- Apples: These should be cut up very small, and will go well with cinnamon. They will not be incompatible with small pancakes if cut up enough. They are also healthy.
- Raisins: These are very versatile, because they are small. They will go well with cinnamon. They are good with any size, and are good for you.
Now let’s move onto toppings:
- Peanut butter: This is very filling, will melt on the pancake, and goes well with syrup. It has a lot of fat, few if any carbohydrates, and some protein. You can also get the crunchy kind if that is what you like.
- Fruit toppings: These come in many different flavors. They aren’t very healthy.
- Syrup: there are many different kinds of this, but maple is the most common. It is not healthy because it is mostly sugar. It can be heated or not heated, both are fine.
- Butter: This is not healthy for most types of butter, but some are imitation butters and have no calories. It goes well with peanut butter and with syrup.
Now let’s get to the actual pancakes. You could use a recipe, but this will take longer, be messier, and require more ingredients. It might be worth it, or it could be a total disaster. If you get the box mix then try to get whole wheat/grain. It is very healthy even with syrup or chocolate chips. It has a lot of fiber. Also, if you drink a lot of milk (they make you thirsty), then you will be getting a lot of protein. I hope this guide helped you understand the world of pancakes even better.
