Tarra’s Way of Cooking Puto

Puto is popular in the Philippines and is enjoyed as breakfast or snack. Here’s how to do it.

Ingredients:

3 cups flour

1 ½ cups sugar

4 tsp. baking powder

2 eggs

1 cup cheese, grated

1 cup raisins

½ cup pineapple chunks

1 ½ cup water

3 drops vanilla (optional)

Procedures:

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, and sugar.
  2. Beat eggs in a bowl.  Add the sifted ingredients.
  3. Add the cheese, raisins, chunks, vanilla, and water.  Mix thoroughly.
  4. Place in llanera or puto molders, then steam over low heat for about 20-25 minutes.
