A Basic Sponge Cake: You Should Know How to Make

A Sponge cake is one of the oldest recipes to make a beautiful birthday cake .If you are a beginner ,baking a successful sponge cake will make you very proud of yourself.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup eggs (4 to 5 eggs according to the size of them)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour ( for a chocolate cake: use .25 cup cocoa powder plus 1 cup flour)
  • 1 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.. Grease an 8 or 9 inch round cake pan or line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper. Sift together flour and baking powder and set aside.
  2. Beat eggs until foamy, then add sugar. Continue beating on medium-high speed until thick and lemon colored. Add vanilla. Fold in flour. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake in preheated oven 25:30 minutes, or until top springs back when lightly tapped. Cool in the pan   for 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan over a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Now you can keep it in the fridge for a day or two or freeze it for a month.
  5.  Split lengthwise.Spread desired filling over layer and replace top layer then frost top and sides.
  6. Enjoy
