A Basic Sponge Cake: You Should Know How to Make

Sponge cake is one of the oldest recipes to make a beautiful birthday cake .If yo are a beginner ,baking a successful sponge cake will make you very proud of yourself.

Ingredients
- 1 cup eggs (4 to 5 eggs according to the size of them)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1.25 cups all-purpose flour ( for a chocolate cake: use .25 cup cocoa powder plus 1 cup flour)
- 1 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.. Grease an 8 or 9 inch round cake pan or line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper. Sift together flour and baking powder and set aside.
- Beat eggs until foamy, then add sugar. Continue beating on medium-high speed until thick and lemon colored. Add vanilla. Fold in flour. Pour into the prepared pan.
- Bake in preheated oven 25:30 minutes, or until top springs back when lightly tapped. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan over a wire rack to cool completely.
- Now you can keep it in the fridge for a day or two or freeze it for a month.
- Split lengthwise.Spread desired filling over layer and replace top layer then frost top and sides.
- Enjoy
