Chiffon Cake

How To Make Chiffon Cake.

Ingredients:

1 cup flour

1 ¼ cups caster sugar

A pinch of salt

1 tsp. baking powder

1/3 cup corn oil

6 eggs, yolks and whites separated

1 cup water

2 tsp. vanilla essence

1 tsp. grated lemon rind

½ tsp. cream of tartar

Procedure:

  1. In a large bowl, sift flour, salt, sugar and baking powder 3 times.
  2. Make a well in the middle.
  3. Put oil, egg yolks, lemon rind, vanilla, and water in the middle.  Mix thoroughly until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites, and cream of tartar until stiff. (  The mixture should stand if you form them into small hills. )  Combine this with the cake mixture.
  5. Sprinkle a light layer of flour on a tube pan.  Pour cake mixture into pan.
  6. Bake at 330 degrees F for 1 hour.
  7. When the cake is done, invert the pan on a platter or on a wax paper.  Serve when cool.
