Easy Cherry Dump Cake

published by tammierene on Sep 9, 2009

This recipe is easy as pie…or cake! Simple, cheap, fast and delicious. It doesn’t get any better than that!

You can dazzle them all during the holiday season with the ease in which you whip up a dessert! This dump cake is a great ‘no fuss’ dessert and if you make it in a foil pan, it’s a ‘no clean’ up dessert!

Ingredients

  • Approximately 9 x11 baking pan
  • One stick of oleo
  • Two 16 oz. cans of cherry pie filling
  • One box of yellow cake mix.
  • Nuts, chopped, optional
  • Whipped topping, optional

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Open and dump the pie filling into the baking pan. Spread the filling out evenly across the bottom.
  3. Dump and spread the cake mix onto the pie filling. Don’t mix them, just spread the cake mix out evenly on the top.
  4. Melt the oleo in your microwave. When it has melted, pour it over the cake mix, pouring evenly. It won’t wet all of the cake mix.
  5. Add nuts spread evenly. Bake uncovered for about one hour.
  6. When it’s done, the pie filling will bubble up a bit and the top will be browned slightly.
  7. Serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
