Leche Flan
A very simple desert that looks very elegant.
Ingredients
Base
- 8 egg yokes
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of sugar
Caramelized sugar (make separately)
- 1 Cup sugar
- 1/4 Cup of water
Method
Pour the sugar and water into a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Once a boil is achieved, pour your caramelized sugar into a mold of your choice. Spread the caramel only on the bottom of the molds. Next, mix your egg yokes, milk, and cup of sugar together for the base mixture. Pour the base mixture in the molds on top of the caramel. As for actually cooking the flan, you will have two options. You can steam the flan for 20 minutes, or bake the flan at 370 Farenheit for 45 minutes. After baking or steaming is completed, place the flan in refrigerator to cool and finish hardening.
