Apple Streusel Cake, a delicious cake filled with cinnamon and apples. A great party server and a great desert! Here is how to make this mouth watering cake.

Apple Streusel Cake, this cake has a cinnamon, apple taste to it. This Cake is best served at tea parties or small gatherings. Also it makes a great night desert and a fine morning snack. The word streusel is a German word meaning “something scattered or sprinkled” which is the main key to making the Apple Streusel Cake. For the streusel you will need; one cup of light brown sugar, one cup of chopped apples, a fourth of a cup of all-purpose flour, one teaspoon of ground cinnamon, three tablespoons of melted butter and if you wish one cup of sliced almonds, pecans or walnuts.

For the cake you will need; two cups of all-purpose flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, one teaspoon of baking soda, half of a cup of softened butter, half of a cup of granulated sugar, three large eggs, a half teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a third cup of orange juice. Then for the glaze you will need; half of a cup of confectioner’s sugar and two and a half teaspoons of orange juice. You will also need two medium bowls, one small bowl, one large bowl, a tube pan, a serving plate, and a wire rack. First, you must preheat your oven to three-hundred-fifty degrees Fahrenheit, then grease a nine or ten inch tube pan. To make the streusel take a medium bowl and combine melted butter, brown sugar, apples, flour, cinnamon, and if wanted almonds, pecans or walnuts, stir for about three to five minutes.

Next is to make the cake, take another medium bowl and combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; mix those three well. Then in a large bowl, using an electric mixer set on medium speed, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract. Then set mixer to low and alternately beat flour mixture and orange juice into egg mixture. When you are done with mixing the batter spoon half of the batter into a tube pan. Then sprinkle half of the streusel onto batter, after that spoon the remaining batter over the streusel, spreading to make an even layer. Put cake batter into oven and bake for fifteen minutes. Remove cake from oven and sprinkle the top with the remaining streusel. Return cake to oven; bake for about thirty to thirty five minutes. To make sure cake is done stick a toothpick in then pull it out, if it is done the toothpick will come out clean, if not it will come out with batter on it.

While you waiting for cake to bake you can start the glaze. Combine confectioner’s sugar and orange juice in small bowl and mix well. When cake is done transfer it to wire rack and let it cool completely, after cake is cooled down gently turn cake out onto a serving plate; invert so streusel is on top. Last but not least, drizzle glaze over cake and serve, this cake goes best with some coffee or tea and is a great party server. Enjoy your delicious Apple Streusel Cake!
