Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich with Chocolate

Elvis Presley was said to have loved peanut butter banana sandwiches. This is a version of that sandwich, only made with Nutella, a chocolate and hazlenut spread. Because these sandwiches are so rich, not to mention high in calories, I recommend serving them in small pieces. They’re delicious with a nice, tall glass of milk.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices white or wheat bread
  • 2 Tbsp smooth or chunky peanut butter
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp Nutella (chocolate and hazlenut spread)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp powdered sugar

Method

  1. Remove crusts from bread. Spread one slice generously with peanut butter.
  2. Place sliced bananas on top of the peanut butter.
  3. Spread Nutella on top of the banana/peanut butter mixture. Close the sandwich by placing the second slice of bread on top. Press down so that the ingredients remain firmly together.
  4. Pour oil in a skillet heated to medium heat. Fry the sandich in oil until one side turns golden brown, then flip and fry the other side. It should take about 3 minutes per side.
  5. Let cool and sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Cut into quarters.
