Tea Cake Recipe From England
English tea in your own home is enhanced by baking a lovely English cake. Try your hand at baking Dundee Cake.

Dundee Cake
1 8-ince square ckae
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup currents
3/4 cups chopped dates
3/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup mixed chopped peel (candied fruit peels)
3 tablespoons blanched split almonds
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Reserve 2 tablespoons flour; sift remaining flour with baking powder and salt. Add flour, baking powder mixture to butter, blending thoroughly. Mix the reserved flour with the fruits until they are well coated. Stir in fruits and mixed peel. Spoon into greased 8-inch square cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Arrange almonds on top. Turn oven to 325 degrees for 30 minutes, or until cake tests done.
