Valentines Cake
How to make your valentines cake look awesome.
Hey everybody,
Have you ever thought you wanted to do something awesome for valentines day well if so make a cake. You probably always see beautiful cakes in the supermarket or bakery when you go. A lot of those cakes take a lot of skill and precision with an icing bag.
An alternative to using hundreds of dollars worth of icing just to learn is chocolate. Now this may seem very odd and strange, but actually chocolate can be quite easy and amazing for cake decorations. Plus they are very easy to color.
Well as always we need a cake. Since valentines is around the corner why not go to the store and make a heart mold or take your time and cut out a beautiful heart of your own creation.
Now that you have the cake we need to make sure we have plenty of chocolate. You can buy bags of specially made chocolate meant to be easily melted. If you want a specific color buy them in that color, but if they don’t have your requested color there is a solution. Instead you can buy white chocolate and food coloring, to create as extravagant a cake as you’d like. I highly recommend dying it and using many different colors to make the best possible creation for valentines day. With the many possible colors you can create something quite extraordinary.
First off melt the chocolate in a bowl, (and add food coloring as desired to white chocolate) then get some nice pieces of wax paper and put them on a tray or two. Now pour your chocolate onto the wax paper, and spread it out evenly, then freeze the chocolate until almost firm. The best is when it holds together, but can bent without cracking. For best results keep a close eye on the chocolate, timing is critical.
Now we have our cake and our chocolate, so take the chocolate and wrap it around the outside of the cake(multiple pieces of the chocolate will probably be needed for this to work.) Keep going until the chocolate fully engulfs the sides of the cake. Then trim the chocolate until it is the length of your desire. Some people like the chocolate even with the cake, and others like it above the cake level. Once trimmed remove the wax paper, and make sure not to touch the outside of the cake now(it will cause fingerprints to be put on the chocolate which are quite ugly).
Finally, you have a choice for decorating the top of the cake.
Choice 1: Take the chocolate and cover the top as well.
Choice 2: (My personal favorite) Quickly ice the top. When I said icing can be a very precise art, well that is true when used for looks, this is just going on top quickly, and it can be sloppy because no one will notice when your done. For the icing pick a color that complements the outside of the cake. Like if regular chocolate or pink chocolate, white icing would be awesome, but if the chocolate is something like white brown icing is recommended. Then with the icing on get more chocolate and a shredder, and slowly get little shaving of chocolate onto your cake. That is the final touch, but make sure like your icing complements the outside, these chocolate shaving should complement the icing.
If you follow these steps your valentines will be awesome, and filled with a lot of questions and compliments about the cake.
Have fun baking,
Awesome Dude
