What’s The Difference Between a Cake and a Biscuit?
Whats the difference?
What’s the difference between a cake and a biscuit?
Ever wondered why a cake is called a cake and a biscuit is called a biscuit ?

The biggest debate between is it a cake or is it a biscuit ?, came from the “Jaffa cake”.
Many people think because they are small and shaped like biscuits that they are biscuits. This needed sorting out for legal reasons over taxes, because it’s covered in chocolate which would make them more expensive, so the British government in 1991 wanted to reclassify the Jaffa cake as a biscuit.
This needed sorting out for legal reasons over taxes, so McVities the Jaffa cake company demonstrated to the tax board by producing a 12″ (30 cm) Jaffa Cake to illustrate that Jaffa Cakes were simply miniature cakes.
And they did this by showing that the Jaffa cake goes hard when stale, that’s it?
Yes that’s it a cake goes hard when stale and a biscuit goes soft when stale.

Crazy! :]
I don’t consider a jaffa cake either a cake or a biscuit. It’s just a jaffa cake. It’s its own entity. ;D

This is a creative idea. I do see a repeating sentence ” because its covered in chocolate which would make them more expensive” just thought I would let you know. I never really thought about the difference. Cool, short article. Thanks for sharing. Feel free to comment on any of my articles as well.

A Jaffa Cake is a frikin cake! It’s in the name and when they go off the are hard. Biscuits go soft when they are off, ok. Lol.
