Cherry Chocolate Nut Cookies

Cherry chocolate nut cookies are such an easy to make budget friendly treat equally at home in the cookie jar, as lunch box treats or simply over a cup of coffee or tea and good conversation.

Cherry Chocolate Nut Cookie Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups (300g) of Sifted Plain Flour
  • 1 Cup (170g) of Dark Chocolate Chips
  • ¾ Cup (180g) of Chopped Maraschino Cherries
  • ¾ Cup (90g) of Chopped Pecan Nuts
  • ½ Cup (125g) of Softened Butter
  • ½ Cup (115g) of Caster Sugar
  • ½ Cup (115g) of Firmly Packed Soft Brown Sugar
  • ¼ Cup (60ml) of Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon of Freshly Ground Sea Salt
  • ¼ Teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda


  1. In a large mixing bowl cream together the softened butter, the caster sugar and the soft brown sugar until combined
  2. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla extract until combined
  3. In another mixing bowl combine the flour, the baking powder, the bicarbonate of soda and the freshly ground sea salt
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well
  5. Stir in the dark chocolate chips and the chopped maraschino cherries
  6. Preheat oven to 1900C
  7. Drop level tablespoons of dough about 5cm (2”) apart onto greased baking trays
  8. Transfer loaded baking trays into preheated oven and bake at 1900C for 10 – 12 minutes or until golden brown
  9. Once cooked remove from oven and transfer to wire racks to cool
  10. When the cherry chocolate nut cookies have cooled completely transfer them to an airtight container ready for consumption


  • These portions will yield around 5 dozen lip-smacking cherry chocolate nut cookies
  • Cherry chocolate nut cookies really are awesome when served along with beverages such as coffee, café late, Mocha, tea, milk, milkshakes etc.
