Chocolate Bread Pudding Recipe

A recipe for a classic Thanksgiving dessert.

Ingredients

  • 12 Slices of day old bread.
  • 4 Tablespoons of butter (melted)
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 8 eggs (beaten)
  • 4 cups of milk
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • ½ cup pure white sugar
  • 1 Tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • ½ cup of chopped apples

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Break bread into small pieces in a 9×9 baking pan
  3. Drizzle melted butter over the bread
  4. In medium bowl, combine: eggs, milk raisins, chopped apples, vanilla extract, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and chocolate chips
  5. Stir/Best until well mixed
  6. Pour mixture over bread and lightly push down with the back of a fork until the bread pieces are completely covered by the mixture
  7. The bread needs to soak up all of the mixture before placing in the oven
  8. Bake in pre-heated oven (uncovered) for 45 minutes or until knife comes out clean when tested
