Classic Custard

The simple, yet elegant taste of this classic custard is a real treat, that tastes great an is easy to make. This home made recipe for custard, will take no more then 20 minutes to prepare and cook and is the base for almost every custard. It does taste really good plain, but you can also add, your favorite fruit, jam or extract, to have and even better dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 Eggs
  • 12fl oz Milk
  • 2oz Caster Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Essence (Extract)

Preparation

Whisk the eggs and milk in a heat proof bowl. The add the sugar gradually, whisking to dissolve. Stir in the vanilla essence. Next put the bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure that the bottom does not touch the water. Heat gently, stirring, until it thickens and coats the back of a wooden spoon. Serve hot with some cookies.
