Chocolate Crinkles

 

What are chocolate crinkles?  Chocolate crinkles are fudge-like cookies covered in confectioners or icing sugar.

Ingredients:

 

½ cup oil

1 ¾ cups sugar

3 cups all purpose flour

1 ¼ cup cocoa powder

2 ½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

4 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

Confectioners or icing sugar

Method to Make the Chocolate Crinkles:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a big bowl, combine all the ingredients except for the icing sugar.
  3. Mix until well blended.
  4. Form the dough into small 1 inch balls.
  5. Roll each ball in the icing sugar.
  6. Bake until the chocolate crinkles “crack” on top, about 8-10 minutes (Do not overbake or they will become dry).  The center should still be soft.
  7. Place on a wire rack to cool.

Tip:

If you refrigerate the dough it will be easier to handle and shape.
