Those delicious festive candies – in cookie form!

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine at room temperature

2/3 cup white sugar

1 egg

2 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup flour

cherry pie filling

Hershey’s cherry cordial kisses

Preheat oven to 350 F. Beat butter, sugar, egg, milk, and vanilla together until smooth. Add flour and stir until well mixed. Refrigerate one hour, or until dough is firm enough to form into balls. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, and press thumb into center of cookie, forming an indentation. Bake 10 minutes. While still warm, press thumb into middle of cookie again to reinforce the indentation. Let cool.  Place one cherry from the cherry pie filling in each indentation. Heat kisses in microwave or double boiler until smooth when stirred. While still warm, spoon the chocolate over the cookies, completely covering each. (You may wish to set the cookies on a sheet of plastic wrap or waxed paper before doing this to prevent mess.)

Yields approximately 2 dozen cookies.
