Carmelita Bars by Betty Crocker were purchased from Sam’s Club. After making them for a pitch in dinner, I was asked to make them again for the next week’s event. I was also asked for the recipe by many of the attendees.

The package was easy to use with only needing two additional ingredients – butter and water. I choose to make the bar version rather than the cookies because it was faster and easier to do.

After being asked for the recipe, I went online to the Betty Crocker website to find the product is not listed. It appears you cannot purchase a single box mix. The only version available is the double-boxed version from Sam’s Club. While this should not be a problem because you can easily make a double batch or choose to make them twice.

I was surprised with how many compliments I received; even more so, to be asked for the recipe. It was a little embarrassing to admit they were from a box and then how easy they were to make.

So in the end, they are well worth the purchase. Carmelita Bars have great flavor, they are very pleasing to a variety of people and extremely simple to make. They are fancy enough to share at a celebration and simple enough to make for family and friends. Overall, a great find, I will purchase again without hesitation.
