Salted Peanut Cookies

How salted it can get.
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar (packed)

1 cup shortening

2 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

3 1/2 cups RED BAND self-rising flour

2 cups salted peanuts

Method: Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix thoroughly sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Stir flour into sugar mixture. Stir in peanuts. Drop dough be teaspoonful about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten each with bottom of greased glass dipped in sugar. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Make about 6 dozen.

This sounds yummy! I was wondering if you could make it with an unsalted nut as my husband is in the hospial with pulmonary edema from too much salt. He is going to be transferred to a regular room from the ICU this afternoon.
