Dar chocolate, cherries…

Dark chocolate, cherries-these promising smells waft out when you open a packet of Marks and Spencer Black Forest Gateaux cookies.

Right away, yo know that only good things can emerge of the bag and you would be right.

Black Forest Gateaux is a rich, soft cookie dotted with dark chocolate chunks and pieces of tart Morello cherries. Chewy and deeply chocolatey, this cookie’s great with cold milk.

The Apple Crumble cookies are fantastic warmed up for a couple of minutes in the toaster oven and served with clotted cream or ice cream.

I’m wondering if British snack engineers might be catching up with Japanese ones.

This cookie has everything an apple crumble does-pieces of apple, slightly tart; crispy toasted oats crisp up a bit, but the cookie stays soft and chewy.

The trick is to warm it long enough so that the oats crisp up a bit, but the cookie stays soft and chewy.

It’s not hard to achieve and you’d have a lot of fun getting it right.
