Decadent Brownies
Decadent brownies for that perfect Christmas with family and friends.
With the upcoming festive celebrations and parties, you may ponder over what you want to bake for that potluck party. Everyone is bringing the usual stuff for the Christmas party like the smoked ham, Christmas log cake. What else can you bring? Definitely the most decadent brownies that is derived from just a simple recipe.
Ingredients:
- 225g butter or margarine
- 200g muscovado or brown sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 55g unsweetened cocoa powder (preferably that of Van Houten or Hershey’s)
- 125g all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Chopped walnuts or macadamia nuts
- Chocolate chips
Method:
- Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius.
- In a saucepan, melt butter till the butter is all liquefied.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and add muscovado, eggs and vanilla essence in this order. Mix well.
- In another mixing bowl, combine cocoa powder, flour and baking powder.
- Add mixture in item 4 to item 3 in parts. Finally, blend well together to avoid any clumping of ingredients or flour.
- Lastly, you may wish to add chopped nuts like walnuts or macadamia nuts and chocolate chips to the brownie mix to give the brownies texture. Blend well.
- Pour the brownie mix into a square pan around 8 inches by 8 inches and bake for 15 minutes. (**Remember: Do not overcook.)
- When cooled, cut into brownie squares.
*Alternatively, you may also warm up the brownies and then, serve with ice-cream.
