The Recipe for Cheese Onion and Potato Chops
Ingredients for the Cheese and Onion Filling:
150-200 grams Grated Cheddar Cheese
1 or 2 tablespoons of onion, grated or very finely chopped
Salt to taste
Ingredients for the Potato Chops:
5-6 large potatoes
Vegetable oil for frying
1 beaten egg
100 grams semolina
Wash and boil potatoes in a pan orpressure cooker till soft. Make sure that the potatoes are fully immersed in water before boiling. If cooking potatoes in a pressure cooker,it would take about 5 or 6 whistles for medium potatoes to get done. Remove skine from the boiled potatoes. The skin comes off easily when the potatoes are still hot. Mash potatoes and season with salt and about 5 to 10 grams of butter.
Mix together the grated cheese and onion and season with salt.
Take sufficient amount of mashed potato to form a ball of about 3 inches in diameter. Make a small well in the centre of the ball and fill it with some of the prepared cheese and onion filling.
Close the well to form a ball again. Slightly flatten the potato and cheese and onion filled ball. Then dip the potato chop in beaten egg and coat well with semolina. Heat oil in a pan and fry the potato chop, one side at a time.
