Chef’s Cupboard Instant Mashed Potato Review
A review of the Chef’s Cupboard Brand of Mashed Potatoes.
Product Description: Instant mashed potatoes that come in a small pouch and are advertised as having a home-style buttery taste. I bought these a couple weeks ago at one of our local stores for around $1. My wife and I made these last night to go with our turkey dinner.
What I liked about this product: I am always a big fan of products that give me some value for my money and, as far as quantity goes, I feel I got just that when it came to this product. When you see the packet, you’ll probably think you’ll need more than one if you are going to feed more than two people. However, one packet was more than enough to feed my family of four with leftovers for the next day.
The potatoes were also very easy to make. All we had to do was add water and put them in the microwave for a few minutes. I always like food that offers some sort of convenience because it gives me more time to work on the other dinner items.
What I didn’t like about this product: That would definitely be the taste. I won’t say these tasted bad. But, they did taste cheap. First of all, there was no butter flavor that I could tell (other than from the butter I ended up adding). What they refer to as a buttery taste is really more of a salty taste and you have to pretend it’s butter. The potatoes were edible but this was a pretty big disappointment for me.
My Final Opinion: If you are shopping solely on price, this is a brand that is OK enough to justify saving a few pennies on it. But, if you want decent quality, you are better off buying a more expensive brand of instant mashed potato.
